So… most of us needs a guide as a starting player. Do you know the story that took place so far in the game? Are you a beginner that just started and confused on where to go?

Both are work in progress. The latter is somehow similar to the one in the forums. Just noting that we aren't going to copy pasta that here. You might have heard on Twitter that @WonderpBread is working on a new tutorial as well.

It's going to take some time, so here you can discuss anything you'd like to add. How it's going to be like. How you want it to be. If you got access to the WQA site you can alter the page yourself and add stuff to the list. After which, we can proceed to the formatting. Thanks!

I would like to suggest a rename for the Helpers of this Wiki. Maybe a new name that starts with 'Lore' too, is the best word to describe us. The best name I can come up with is 'LoreProtector', if you agree then Hooray! if not feel free to suggest a better one.

Introduction

First of all, I'd like to give you a warm welcome to this Wiki. It's great to get new editors sign up and watch them grow into model assets on this Wiki.

If you ever have any questions (no matter how big or small), please feel free to PM a Wiki Admin, Moderator or Helper as we are always more than happy to help.

We understand that it can be a confusing time when you first join the Wiki, as there are many threads you have to read in order to know how to edit and adjust into Wiki life. Hopefully this guide will help show you where to start, with a breakdown of all necessary information.

Rules and Information

This is your first stop. You must read all of these threads first, before you do anything else on the Wiki. If there's ever anything you don't understand, make sure you PM a member of the Wiki staff for clarification.

• HS Wiki Rules - Our absolute rules. These 10 rules must be followed at all times. If you fail to do so, you could be banned from the Wiki. First and foremost, you must read these rules and make sure you understand them.
• Adding / Removing Thanks - A universal list of when it is acceptable to add your name as 'Thanks' to a page. It also covers when you should remove someone else's 'Thanks'.
• Image Submission Guidelines - We expect the highest quality images on the Wiki, so these rules must be followed if you want your image to stay. There are specific rules for each type of item. You can also find tips on creating an image.
• Problem Procedures - If an issue ever arises with another editor or a member of the Wiki staff, this is how you should deal with the issue along with the chain of command.

• Chronicle of Releases - Help record all the releases of HeroSmash. You can find more information, such as how to apply to work on the CoR, within this thread.

The reason why this thread exists is because in the past, we were never consistent with basically everything. Later on, we mixed up note usages which resulted in a large amount of confusion. In order to prevent similar problems in the future, we decided to officially state which is which so our notes will be solid and thorough. This thread is for recall, beneficial and informative purposes.

If you have not noticed, Also See's generally go last in note order because it's not important if you compare to others.

In order for Also See's to apply for a page. They must be either:

Disambiguation reference.
Look-a-likes.
Discontinued subject linked to new subject.
Global Lists.
If an armor has some sort of relation to the garb that is worn by NPCs or Monsters

For listing, it may go to however long it needs to. Beware of having around 10 or more also see's. The reason is because a global list is created to prevent page expansion.

There may be an occasion where the global list does not happen simply because the reason being that the list is too general. (Example: Blue Cape) If you are not sure, contact a staff member.

Clicktoactivate - Associated with clicktoactivate

This one bends to several directions. Usually, we do not add the note, but we add another image to display what the item looks like when clicked.
If the image has a complex spot on where to click in order to change, add a note or a picture that can indicate where to click.
If there are no pictures showing the animation, add a note on a choice of your wording.

Default note:

**Note:** Click to activate or deactivate item animation.

If the item has an animation that eventually returns back to its normal version.

**Note:** Click to activate item animation.

If the item has many versions attached to it.

**Note:** Click to change between versions.

If the image tabs have specific names. (Example of non-specific names would be: "1", "2", "Version 2")

**Note:** Click to change between the (Specific Tab Name) and (Specific Tab Name).

Color Custom - Associates with colorcustom

List of all Color Properties:

• Hair
• Skin
• Eye
• Base
• Trim
• Accessory

**Note:** Color Custom to (Color Property) Color.

Because we like to be specific, it's always best to indicate which parts are Color Custom. If you are having problems, contact a staff member and they may assist you for identifying the part that is Color Custom.
At times, the item's description may contain the Color Custom details. If the detail is not specific enough, then add the note.

If two or more Color Custom properties:

**Notes:**

• Color Custom to (First Color Custom Property)
• Color Custom to (Second Color Custom Property)

If the item appears to have more than one Color Custom property; list them all, and place them just like how the list did above.
For Hairs, we do not consider them as Color Custom parts because most of them are technically Color Custom to Hair Color.

Daily

These generally fall under the mission pages, and never the item pages.

**Note:** This mission can only be completed **once** a day.

Or if it's a global note as in referring the entire page or the entire set of a section.

**Note:** These missions can only be completed **once** a day.

Reminder that these notes are done separately if the mission qualifies all conditions.

Must - Associates with anything that requires a specific mission or set of missions in order or a promotional offer to access

**Note:** Must have completed [[[A set of Missions]]] to access this [Shop / Screen].

If there is a certain mission:

**Note:** Must have completed the '[[[Specific Mission]]]' mission to access this [Shop / Screen].

If you are required to complete a certain mission to purchase an item from a shop.

**Note:** Must have completed the '[[[Specific Mission]]]' mission to purchase.

Promotional offer:

**Note:** Must have purchased [the / a] (Promotional Offer) [Location of purchase, Etc.] in order to access this shop.

You'll have to word this on your own because there could be a variety of ways on how a promotional offer works.
There are additional info that can be included such as the time frame, Etc.

Parody - Associates with parody

**Note:** This [Item / NPC / Monster / Etc.] is a parody of (Parody of the Subject).

If it's the description only:

**Note:** Description is a parody of (Parody of the Subject).

Now, Parody is indeed straining because there can never be consistency in this. The quotes are just roots, or openings for a parody note. Wherever it leads is within your decisions, and possibly staff as well.
It is recommended that you link the parody subject to a reliable source where it contains factual information. (Sites like Wikipedia, IMDb, Etc.)
Use quotation marks, bold, italics, when or where necessary.
If the parody content refers to inappropriate material, do not link or reference. (Even by all means, not tagging with 'parody')

Above all else, contact staff for questions on this type of note.

Previously Called

**Note:** Previously called **"Page's Previous Name"**.

(Example)

**Note:** Previously called **"Swift Justice"**.

If the subject has been renamed twice:

**Note:** Previously called **"Most Recent Previous Name"** and then **"2nd Recent Previous Name"**.

If it has been renamed more than twice:

**Note:** Previously called **"Most Recent Previous Name"**, **"2nd Recent Previous Name"** and **"3rd Recent Previous Name"**.

The key here is to list Latest to Earliest.

Previously Free Player / Member

For something that was previously available to Free Players:

**Note:** Previously available to Free Players.

For something that was previously Member.

**Note:** Previously Member Only.

Previously / Previously Not - Can associate with a variety with the exception of the above Previously mentioned.

**Note:** Previously / Previously Not (Whatever it was Before).

This can be open floor to many situations. Below are a couple of examples where this may be used:

If the weapon type has been changed to another type:

For a Mission situation:

If used in more than two missions with the same names:

  • '[[[Mission Page Link | Mission's Name]]]' (NPC 1).
  • '[[[Mission Page Link | Mission's Name]]]' (NPC 2).

If the Mission Page just has one mission or if the item is used in every mission on that page:

If the item merges more than two items in a particular shop:

**Note:** Used to merge items in the [[[Merge Shop's Name]]] shop.

If the item is only used to merge one item:

**Note:** Used to merge [[[Item Name]]].

Plural:

We capped the limit to two if both items are in the same shop.
However, there are no limits if the items has no connection to each other.

Final Comments:

As always, contact staff or myself if there is an issue. I intend on getting everyone to at least familiarize themselves with notes. There may be some notes where it just has to be discussed, but that's totally acceptable. I would understand if it becomes a bit difficult to follow, but worry less since staff can correct things and may state what is wrong. But again, contact us or post below if anything bothers you.

Wiki Pages

• Snowbrawl/Snowbrawl Head: have a rare rarity. If it still drops in the current map(s) then change to seasonal tag again.
• Complete updating Power Level
• H.A.L. Droid still need Founder badge info (if it does not exists then please PM me again)
• Only hide (Free Player), (Member), (SC), '14 etc in shop pages and not anywhere else.

Forum

• To add additional note on the Image Submission Guidelines that nothing must be equip except the one to be captured when submitting images. Found quite a few images with equipped hair, weapons, etc in armor pages.

Bugs

• These are some of the bugs I've recorded so far on GDocs: bit.ly/1f3X5yr
• Those typos in-game must remain on the wiki pages unless it's fixed.

Headsup - won't be around for 1 month from 19th April. No internet access, unfortunately. Probably taking this period in some rural areas … ;)

This thread is to help to create the Item Level Chart currently in development. It's pretty much simple and efficient! You don't have to edit anything found on that thread unless you have something new and informative to add.

I personally don't intend to do a Sort-by-level for all the current equippable items. For now it would be much difficult to add every single item manually like the A-Z index. But if we succeed in this trial they can be done in the future!

If you're interested and would like to help out and make this possible, add the tags onto every single page you can find on the wiki with their required base levels.

As suggested earlier on the other thread the idea is to have a Sort by level system for all items since HS use this restriction. It would not be easy as we will have to add individual items manually similar like the A-Z. Plus do note that we have some items that drop from monsters which we don't know the item level unlike shops, which can be referred to.

Discuss, on the possibility of implementing such a listing.

Both of these ways will take you to a create page screen (Example)
Click "Create Page" and "Create" to open up a editing box.
Everything About the editing box is here.
That is everything you need to know about creating a New Page.

Remember follow all guidelines when creating a page and stay to the template.

• Screenshots from high graphical settings, ideally at normal size.
• Saved as .png (.gif can work, but you'd have to check and see if there's a loss of color).
• The location to capture does not matter, as long as it is clear of texture and obstruction. Please do make sure to contain only the details you're trying to capture.
• For items, image should only be taken while equipped on a character (like this), and NOT in a preview (like this).
• No character names, unless it overlaps the existing item you're trying to capture (like a head item). It's just wasted space… unless if there's no way to print without it.
• Proper cropping of image (Not too big & not too small) and no cutoff images.
• For all images (except Locations), zoom in on what you're taking. To zoom in, hold Ctrl then press "+" on your keyboard, To zoom out, press "-" instead.
• Use image hosting sites like Imgur as it's a more stable website, and prevent using sites like Tinypic as it is likely to cause broken image after a period of time.
• Image taken on the character should be facing to the right, unless it is a monster that only face to the left.
• Color Custom of item does not matter — if the items look the same but are sold separately as they have different color custom types (see Crow Wings), you can use the same default image for each item (for default use the one with non-color custom code) without having to change.

World

Locations

• You can include several images from an individual screen (example: 1st image taken on a street, and the other taken from the sky) but they must be kept in a single tab with collapsible of each individual image. (NOTE: As the screen is movable in HeroSmash - no matter where it is taken, it is still considered under a single screen)
• The focus should be the screens in an area, so no chat-box (hide it), toolbar/power bar should be empty (don't equip any powers), no other people in the room (if possible), and just try to keep the screen in it's 'natural state' without any interference (except yourself). If there are monsters, leave them in.

Monsters & NPCs

• Try to get the detail of the entire monster/NPC by zooming in.
• For monsters, take the image along with the red name above their head. This shows that the picture you took is actually a picture of a monster.
• For NPCs:
  • Take the image along with the "!" bubble above their head. This shows that the picture you took is actually a picture of an NPC.
  • Player NPCs should have their original image used, as the art updates when the player changes items.

Items

Armors

• Unequip everything but armor.
• Avoid using hairstyles but bald only.
• No facial markings to be equipped.
• Always include the Shadow at the bottom (Good Example & Bad Example)

Capes & Back Items

• Un-equip large objects that may cover a lot of the cape and focus only on the cape itself.
• Equipping items like the Invisible Blanket would be ideal, but not essential.

Gloves

• Try to take a screenshot that includes both gloves, if possible.

Head Items

• Avoid taking a screenshot with an armor that blocks part of the head item.
• Invisible Blanket is ideal but not essential.
• Unequip the other head items (like masks) before taking a picture.

Powers

• Screenshot for the Icon must be big enough (Good Example & Bad Example)

Weapons

• Try not to have too many other things around, so that people get a good look at it. Focus on the weapon itself.
• Invisible Blanket is ideal but not essential.
• If possible, include at least part of the character's shadow or equip a simple armor (e.g. Starter Outfit) so there can be a weapon vs body size comparison.

Miscellaneous

Need-Image Tag Guidelines

• This goes to every page that its image has lack of quality, small image or an image that needs to be re-sized or simply, the page has no image. We don't need to be spammed for images that are simply, just fine.
• This includes preview pictures with letters on pictures, badly pictures, too small and too big pictures, broken links or if the item isn't seasonal.
• Any images with hair that cover facial details of armors that morph. (that means simply to say, any armor that has a head item equipped)
• Head item images, that when an armor is equipped, it changes the appearance of the face.

Adding / Removing Thanks
Thanks is allowed to be added for the following image changes:

• Replacing an image, if the previous image was small, bad in quality and/or broken (broken images are still debatable)
• Adding animation images

Thanks is not allowed to be added for the following images changes:

• Minor corrections (such as adding a shadow to an image, fixing a minor crop, etc.)
• Replacing a good quality image that doesn't follow ISG with an image that is good quality and does follow the ISG.
• Adding an image that's not yours (this is a big no-no on the wiki, as we don't like people taking credit for other people's work)

Abbreviations & Acronyms

Feel free to suggest anything but must be:

• HeroSmash related
• Do not just come up with things to add. Commonly used terms only.
• If an abbreviation or acronym is considered rude or offensive it does not belong on the list, even if it is commonly used

The HS Wiki Rules and Caelestia Network Rules apply whilst on the #HSWiki channel and Caelestia network.

The IRC channel has some great benefits, such as:

• Allows group discussions for Wiki users and staff together.
• A Q&A about HEROSmash, or the Wiki itself for regular or new Wiki users.
• Organization and efficiency during release days.

To the Channel Staff (Wiki Helpers/Mods/Admins)

We now have a staff-only channel! /join #WikiStaff (PM Zyrain if you are not on the access list and auto-banned from the channel.)

Regarding channel rules and punishments; all users must abide to the HS Wiki Rules and the Caelestia Network Rules.
If users break a rule, such as swearing, impersonation, non-AE advertising, etc., kick them but give a reason why so they know what they've done. If they repeatedly violate the rules, you may ban them. If spammers/spam-bots attack the channel, ban them by their IP address.

To kick a user: /kick NAME REASON
To ban a user: /cs ban #HSWiki NAME
(Some clients allow you to do this by clicking on the user's name.)

To access a list of bans: /mode #HSWiki b
To unban a user: /cs unban #HSWiki NAME

Before I move on, here are a few general things to note:

• You do not have to be part of the team to help out. As this is a wiki, editing (most) pages is open to all. This is for those who have been around for a while, helped out a lot and want to be part of the team that manages the entire wiki.
• If you're new to the wiki, don't post here. You'll need to familiarize yourself with the wiki and our ways of doing things before we can consider adding you. We judge by the quality of your posts/edits, your behaviour and of course how active you are (which can be judged/influenced by the karma system).
• Signing up here does NOT mean you're instantly a LoreProtector. We'll be looking at your history and ongoing activity to see if you've proven to be helpful. If you qualify, we'll add you to the LoreProtectors List, and send you a PM to notify you. If not, your post will be deleted without notification, in which case you can try again in the future after helping out for a while. Excessively posting here while doing little to nothing will not do you any good, and may get you removed from the wiki if it becomes a problem.
• Having a title does not make you better than others. All rules must still be followed.
• The wiki is separate from the forums. Being a wiki mod does not get you any powers on the AEForums or in HEROSmash!
• If you ask to be promoted, you will not be. Ever. We will promote who we see fit. If you ask, it tells us that you're in it for the title/power, and nothing more.
• Activity is important. If you're a LoreProtector (or mod), and you're inactive, you'll likely be removed. So post if you're active, don't otherwise. If you have been removed and would like to be a loreprotector again, you will have to repeat the process again, as we won't know if you'll actually be active again or not.

Here's what most of you would probably be interested in knowing. Much like the AEF, we'll have a few levels of users above the regular wiki members: loreprotectors and mods. We will ask you if you want to be promoted above loreprotector as we wouldn't want to give you more work and find that you don't have the time for it.

Here's the list of user levels that we plan to have. Click on the links below for more information on each.

The names and responsibilities may change, but that's essentially the structure we're planning to have. The list above is the minimum level of work we're expecting of you, but again, they may change. As this is a wiki, you are welcome to do more than what you've been assigned (it may even get you promoted faster, depending on the quality of your edits). You will be required to know about, and keep up to date with, the wiki rules, guidelines, and the general way the wiki works…well, everyone should be.

Should it be marked as rare, or only available during character creation?

The way I have been working it is that the first day of the month this the brand new start to the This Week page!
So, for this new October month, everything that was released in the September month is now in the Last Week page and everything to be released is to go in the This Week page.

The image of the armor does not have to be small, nor very large, must be of medium size. When they take pictures of armor, avoid using the preview, you better pictures out without the preview, if you do not have the armor or it will not have membership or sc's, then there if you can put the image in preview.

I don't know how good of a job I did, but I think I did alright, with creating the page. I put a little summary of what the H.A.L. Droid is and does at the top, and broke the rest of the page into four sections: Mentors, Badges, Missions, and Smash. Mentors is another area where I just wrote about what the section is and does. In Badges, I sort of did what AQWWiki did with the Book of Lore and just listed all the badges. Missions is separated into two sub-sections in HS: Daily and Missions. Daily quests are also otherwise available from the NPCs providing them. I'm going to add them in right now. Missions are sort of like sagas, but aren't physically available to Accept/Complete/Decline from NPCs, therefore I added no links to any of them. Finally, for the Smash section, I just listed the available shops.

for screenshot images just get a picture of the skill in action. something showing the color if it has one, and basically what it looks like as best u can. use ur best judgement as to what pic is better than another pic, but the usual guidelines of better quality image (jpg<png), big enough to see properly, not obstructed (not someone stood in front of u /etc).

leave the details field blank for now. it's for the information we dont have yet such as "does 10-30 damage" or "does xx% damage over xxSeconds". i'v been told we'll be given this info shortly. ae want to keep the in game descriptions light.
