I cannot approve the chinesenewyear tag, unfortunately. If you look at the page revisions, items in the New Year shop was released in celebration of the NEW YEAR and not CNY. New year rares won't receive additional tags since they have already been tagged with newyear. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Hi.
I was thinking about adding some new tags.
Suggestions:
-Canine this is or is part canine, or uses dogs in it's design
Seeing that there is a feline tag I thought adding this wont be a problem.
-Angel this is or is related to an angel
Not sure how many items here are related to this tag but I like the idea of the tag.

Was also thinking about adding the tag: Rabbit
Edit After editing some pages .. I found that there are a lot of Gremlins. So why do not we add the tag Gremlin and a List of All Gremlins page ?
Edit 2 the tag, Slime: this is, is part, or is related to a Slime, or uses slime as part of it's design
Edit 3 Chaos for items in the Chaos Shop for example. And maybe the aethemed tag from AQWwiki for the items themed from another AE games. Such as Chaos Shaper Sword (Member) which is themed from the Chaos Shaper Sword from AQW.

I'm scrapping the idea of the tag ballistic/throwing tag Sik suggested earlier and probably, a better word 'toss' that is connected with throwing. This can exist under both melee or ranged weapons.

toss - weapon design related to the act of throwing, including projectiles, spray, hurl, launch, fling, etc

I personally can't think of a better phrase to emphasize the tag, or word to replace the tag so that means I'm open for ideas. If not I'm adding this to the list next week.

Totally missed this, sorry for the late reply Sik.

First is two new tags, melee and range for the weapons.

melee - this weapon uses a Melee-type attack

range - this weapon uses a Range-type attack (with an additional special animation during auto attack)

If it's a sword then it should use a sword tag. If it has the word sword in it's description or name but is not an actual sword, it SHOULD NOT be tagged under the sword tag. Same thing, if it's not a staff but has the name staff on the item, it should not be tagged 'staff'. (See Staff of Yergen - which is actually a polearm/scythe)

I like the idea of the plant tag and like you've mentioned that quite a variety of items consists of the plant category. * Will add this tag as well as the missing weapon types you've mentioned to the list tomorrow - thinking of the description *

I know that a recent throwing axe could cause confusion as it's released as a range-type weapon but i suppose we can just categorize them accordingly. Melee under melee-type, Range under range-type.

EDIT: A couple of fixes and additions

plant - this armor/head item/weapon is related to a plant

Easter - removed and changed to Grenwog

grenwog - this is part of the Grenwog holiday event

polearm - this is a polearm

mace - yes, hammers are included

staff - both staffs and staves could be used but preferably staff, since it's a more common term

Do you think Ballistic as a better term in place of 'throwing'? Or do you have any other suggestions, as throwing seems informal and a descriptive word IMO. I could include the term throwing in the description though.

Anymore that I've missed or corrections - please let me know so I can add to the tags post in the first page. Thanks!

Well, a pencil is a writing utensil, but you are correct as well. A pencil is definitely a stationery.

Anyways, a lot of weapons were giving me trouble debating on whether they were technically swords or not. Some were very simple, as their names or their descriptions had the word "sword" in it.

I figured that a tool would be synonymous to a utensil, which would describe most of the labor day items, knives, etc.

I suggested the tag "plant," because there are quite a few items consisting of flowers (i.e. Battle Wedding Bouqets and Dead Flower Vase), and there are some armors that are plant-like (i.e. Grimtooth and Spring Fairy).

As for the tagging of the main melee weapon types, perhaps they could be "swords," "axes," "polearms" (scythes included), "daggers," "maces" (I checked on the AQW wiki. Hammers are classified as 'maces' on there. I am not sure if that is how you all want it to be on here though.), and "staffs" (Or staves. I am not sure what the proper way to spell it is.).

Regarding "range" weapons, I was thinking they should be tagged as "range," seeing as that is what they are classified as in the game. A "gun" tag is a no-brainer. As for the rest of the range weapons, perhaps there should be… "throwing" (This would include chakrams, shurikens, etc.), "bows" (Which I believe is already a tag.), "whips," aaaand that is all I can think of at this current time.

Let me know what you all think about this.

All of the suggestions seems great. Just want to point out that pencil is a stationery and not a utensil.

Sword could be a weapon consisting of a long, straight or slightly curved blade; sharp-edged on one or both sides, with one end pointed and the other end fixed in a hilt or handle. (main concern noted in bold)

Hammer and wrench could be categorized as a tool, while mace should be used individually. Staves/Staffs and polearms could be separated (for these 2 still not sure since I can't check them out now)

Well IMO, we could just classify the main weapon types. Things that are held like plant pot, pencil, broom, etc which are not an actual weapon but resemble other stuffs won't need to be tagged for now. These remaining uncategorized weapons could use a list/sort by other weapon types - just exclude the tags used for the main weapon types.

Gramatically it should be called 'ranged weapons' instead of range weapons. As for range or ranged tags I don't mind if it's tagged range since that's how weapons are identified in game but for easier identity I would choose the latter.

Just giving some of my ideas, but would be great to hear from others. Still away though I managed to grab a wifi hotspot to check this out. ;)

Looking through most of the weapons, I have come up with some tag suggestions:

Axe - This weapon is an axe.
Plant - This item is/contains a plant.
Polearm - This weapon is a polearm.
Slime - This item contains slime.
Utensil - This item is a utensil. (i.e. pencil, sledge hammer(s), wrench, broom, knife, etc.)

Also, before I start tagging more weapons, I would like to run these questions by you all. What do you consider a sword? Is a hammer considered a mace? Is a staff technically the same as a polearm? And should the new "range" weapons be tagged with "range" or "ranged?"

I asked the last question, because the page for "range" weapons is entitled "Ranged Weapons."

Yes I absolutely agree that the haired tag should not be used for all items as it would be complicated. Since we have mergeitem and mergereward tags, I think its useful to add a mergeshop tag as well.

Adding this tag will help us sort out which shop sells items that can be bought by Fame or SC, and which shops require a certain merge item(s) to buy any merge reward(s).

I reckon we should just add a 'Sort by Level' into each of the category in the Items page (like what @Peachii said) instead of using tags, because there are also a lot of items that are not; Level 5,10,15 nor 20, I think adding different level tags are not necessary. I'm up for 'Sort by Level', good suggestion though.

I think it's a good suggestion by @AQWParadox, but could be used under the categorizing system on A-Z, similar to the one used for monsters - Sort by level. Each equipment/item could use that which is much better than having tags for individual level.

Changes

Will be removing seasonal tags from items that have a Seasonal Rare and Event Rare rarity without a year suffix ('11, '12, etc). If the item is currently removed from game it will be tagged as rare.

Items with 'Event Item' rarity means they will only return IF the event becomes available again. Some exceptions, like the Black DragonKhan Wings & Wonderp Bread Birthday Hat (Member), did not fulfill the requirement of having a seasonal tag (item must return yearly). Do tag accordingly - if it does return the following year use a seasonal tag, such as Magical Butter Stick of Power.

Regarding the 'ae-staff' tag:

item MUST resemble one of the AE-staffs. Currently the issue is the items are tagged according to items that are known to the AE staffs, and that is incorrect.

Examples of appropriate items tagged: Surfboard Martial Artix which has the image of Artix. Saving Face with head of Zazul. Yergen Balloon with Yergen's image. Moldy Wonderp Bread with Wonderp Bread as monster.

New tag

staffbirthday —> for the event tag

Earlier I messaged Zero IX on renaming Facial Markings to "Scars". I went on to check, and noticed we have Beleen's Markings shop to identify facial markings as a whole and decided to stick with that naming.

With that said I'm also going to use/rename the following tags:

(New tag) facialmarking - a generic tag for all Facial Markings

(Renamed) scar - this head item/armor/NPC has a Scar or Scars on it's skin

bodyart - unchanged

Which means any item applicable to scar or bodyart can be used. As for any facial markings with those features included, both tags, facialmarking together with scar and/or bodyart should be used.

Hello, just a notice here to everybody that seasonal tags should only apply if the item has a rarity value of either 'Seasonal Item' or 'Seasonal Rare'. Besides that, all items labelled with a year tag ( '12, '13, etc) will have the seasonal tag inclusive in it.

Please remove the seasonal tag for items that do not meet the pre-requisite factors of the above. (For example, items which have their rarity value changed from seasonal item to event item)

If you notice the Events page most of them have the seasonalsmall tag. That's right, it means that they return to the game every so often, most likely every year, and will be applicable for the tags.
Shops, Locations and Monsters depend on the selected events applicable.

@Shal: Just as you said, I agree that we should have tags just like in AQWWiki, despite being that we do somehow operate differently at times. On the other hand, they must be useful, too! Players will be able to check them anytime. Of course by that I do not mean that we should copy every single tag that is used in AQWWiki.

When I saw you parenting the What's wrong page it reminds me that missions should have tags. I forgot to include that when adding the shopitem tag.

Couple of things, first, jewelery tag should be added as it is on the AQWWiki, I know this is not the AQWWiki, but as Peachii said before, it follows the AQWWIki. It is also a good tag for people to find items with jewelery if they wanted, which is the point of all tags. For example, fur tag.. you don't think someone wants a extra tag like jewelery, buuuut if u check the master list, you will find there are a few "extra" tags we have. Don't for-take it as a pointless tags cause all in all, its not all that pointless or "extra".

Secondly, I would like to suggest the mission tag for searching purposes. It will serve as the shop tag.

Helm - is one of the headitems, Helms. For example, one of the items tagged with 'Helm' in-game: http://i.imgur.com/nU5xEph.png All of the Helms will need to include this tag.

Helmet - Anything that is an actual helmet. See the wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helmet

Scar/Facepaint - nice idea! In this case we will have to recategorize, and use both tags for facial markings that can be found in-game. Will see how it can be done!

Bow - total of 11 items found related to bow, so far. Will be adding this shortly! - Added Done! ~Angelita

Could someone explain to me why there is a "Helm" Tag and a "Helmet" Tag they mean the same thing just one is abreviated…

Also a suggestion instead of scar being a generic tag for all facial marking how about

Scar: A mark carved into the Skin.

FacePaint: Paint on the face for design.

If you have any other ideas for the descriptions of either one feel free to post.
Also:

Bow: This item is a bow.

Added and edited a couple of tags that are essential:

cutscene - this is the script of a cutscene
drop - this item was dropped by a monster.
free - this item can be purchasable for free (or if it was put on your inventory) without spending real money or Fame/SmashCoins to get it and they aren't monster drops.
sc - this item can only be bought using Smash Coins, this excludes items costing 0 SmashCoins which are classed under the "free" tag.
shopitem - this item was purchased in a shop.

If you have any ideas on additions kindly post here, thanks!

The jewelery tag would be a pointless idea to add as the use of an extra tag to tell whether an item has jewels on it wouldn't be that relevant. Thanks for your suggestion, though!

Wiki ON!

1023404.~

I disagree with that, Msbo.

Personally, I think the Jewelry tag is pointless in all ways. Not many people care to know what has a jewel in it because not many people even notice the jewelry on an item. Plus, it just adds to the list of tags that we don't need. I'm not supporting that tag.

Jewelry - This NPC/Monster/Helmet/Armor/Weapon has a precious stone or a jewel on its design.
This is widely used on the AQWWiki and may be useful on this wiki as well.
